Big Bang : scientific truth or folly ?

  • The Big Bang theory is taught in schools and believed to be the truth about the creation of the universe even by Christians, in spite of the Bible telling otherwise but as Edgar Poe would say, "is it so or not?" Is the Big Bang even a solid scientific theory?

The big deal is that even Christians accept the Big Bang brainwashing and when asked why the accounts of Genesis and science differ, they don’t see anything to answer but dull statements like: « This is not really what the Bible means, there are a lot of allegories » or « The Bible is not to be taken literally » or « This part of the Bible is more of a legend, it was written for Israelites who were dumb hard-headed people ». The huge problem is that if we can’t take some part of the Bible by the word, can we take any other part of the Bible (God’s love, message of salvation, hope of rapture and paradise, etc) by the word? This is the      flaw (I should say the rift) of that way of viewing the Bible and atheists are not missing that occasion to mock us.

The worst is that by accepting compromise with that theory, we are implicitly calling God a liar! 1 Jn 5 :10 : « he that believeth not God hath made him a liar ». Who are we to believe, our All-Loving Father or christophobic secular scientists that would do anything to dismiss the hypothesis of an Intelligent All-Powerful Designer? But what is exactly this theory?

Ironically, it was 1st proposed by the Catholic canon Georges Lemaître and « proved » by the astrophysicist Edwin Hubble. Of course, there are a number of scientists, creationists or otherwise, opposing this idea (e.g. Fred Hoyle), but it’s basically the cosmological model adopted by most secular scientists.

Now, let’s see some of the simplest arguments that make this theory irrelevant. I will try to vulgarize as much as I can.

If the Big Bang was true, matter should be evenly distributed in the universe. Yet, it’s not the case. Observation tells us that galaxies are grouped together in huge “continents”, leaving tremendously vast areas of the universe with nearly nothing.

There are four physical fundamental forces in the universe: strong nuclear force (the one binding the core of an atom together), weak nuclear force (binding the electrons of an atom to its core), electromagnetism & gravity. Moreover, according to the German physicist Max Planck, the shortest possible time is 10-43 second. There can be no shortest time than this one. The fact is that scientists are unable to describe what happened between the initial explosion and 10-43 second after. They just suppose that the 4 fundamental forces were merged into one.

Next, the Big Bang theory states that all the matter of the universe was concentrated in a volume far lesser than an elementary particle (electrons and so on). According to Einstein’s relativity, the more gravity is strong, the slower the time flows (it’s an issue for atomic clocks aboard orbital satellites). If the Big Bang theory was true, before that famous Planck’s time, gravity should have been so unimaginably strong that time should have FLOWED BACK TO THE PAST IN A MULTITUDE OF INSTANTS EQUAL TO ETERNITY and the universe could have never arise from it. Does it make sense?

Now, the Big Bang have been adopted as a cosmological standard because Edwin Hubble supposedly found out that galaxies are moving astray from each other, and that the farther they were, the quicker they moved, by analyzing the light they emit, supposing that they were all grouped together at some point in time. But let’s look carefully at it. What did he prove except that, well… galaxies are moving? If you see children going out from school, does it mean they were grouped together in a volume far smaller than the head of a hairpin?

The next thing is the CMBR (cosmic background radiation). It has been shown that in any point of the universe, temperature is never at the absolute 0 (-273,15 ° C or -459.67 ° F) but instead, there is a radiation that maintains it to 3 ° K (3 ° C above the absolute 0). If the theory of the initial explosion is true, WHY IS THAT CMBR THING THE SAME VALUE IN EVERY PART OF THE UNIVERSE? WHY IS IT NOT SLIGHTLY WEAKER ON THE OUTER PARTS AND STRONGER IN THE INNER PARTS?

There is a very dangerous trap for apologists to beware: we must not interpret the infallible Word of God through our fallible human reasoning when it must be the other way round. What does that Word say? It says that God stretched the heavens (Ps. 104:2; Is. 40:22, 42:5, 44:24, 45:12, 51:13; Jer. 10:12, 51:15; Zec. 12:1; Jb. 9:8, 37:18). If all galaxies were gathered in a volume much smaller than today, God has stretched forth the universe at an unimaginable speed (by analyzing the light emitted by the farthest galaxies with the famous Doppler effect, we know that they are 15 billion light-years away from here, so the universe is at least 15 billion light-years wide), giving it its actual size in 24 hours). That would 1st explain the uniformity of the CMBR and 2d explain why the light of these extremely far galaxies can reach us when the universe is 6000-10000 years old according to God’s Word!

People always imagine that we creationist are fanatic uneducated weirdoes without any scientific knowledge. I beg to differ with the previous paragraph! Of course, it’s just a theory, but it’s less weird and far more in accordance with the Bible than all these fudge factors about that Big Bang thing. In no other realm of science could you find a theory depending so much on improvable assumptions. There is a French proverb saying: “Avec des si, on mettrait Paris en bouteille”: you can do anything with “ifs”, even putting a city as big as Paris in a bottle. You know what I mean, brethren!

I’d also warn us about an even bigger trap for naïve apologists: if we marry our faith with secular fallible science, we are bound to be widowed soon. The Pope Pio XII went as far as pronouncing a speech about "Proofs of the existence of god at the light of the actual science of nature" in 1951. Now that the Big Bang theory (no pun intended) is becoming feebler and feebler, where are the proofs now ?

Not so long ago, doctors believed malaria to be caused by bad air (hence the name). It was only a short while that scientists discovered that mosquitoes were the real cause. Plus, did you read novels of Arthur Conan Doyle other than Sherlock Holmes’adventures? 2 of them are the adventures of the journalist Malone and Professor Challenger: “The Lost World” and “The Poisoned Belt”. They may have been nice according to scientific knowledge at this era, but when you read them at the lights of today’s scientific knowledge, it’s just preposterous: megalosaurs hopping like kangaroos, spatial vacuum considered as matter (æther),…

To end this, I would say that someone being a great scientist and having do a lot of research doesn’t mean he’s wise in God’s eyes. Even Einstein made mistakes (about a stationary universe for example). Moses wasn’t obviously telling a legend when he wrote Gen. 1-5, he did consider it as historical facts, and God inspired him. Jesus Himself, the all-time greatest moral teacher, 2d to none, considered it as real facts, SO THEY ARE REAL FACTS, whether we like it or not. Nb. 23:19a : “God is not a man, that he should lie”. You know as well as me that we can’t just cherry-pick parts of the Bible in accordance with our conception of the world and throw away the rest as garbage.

    - Is. 44:25: (He) That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish

    - 1 Cor. 1:20b: “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?”

    - 1 Cor. 1:25: “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.”

    - 1 Cor. 3:19: “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.”

Big Bang is in short one of numerous issues that lead young people away from God. They understand there is a contradiction between what the Bible says and what they’re told at school. Now it’s up to us to demystify this canard, because if we don’t, who will? We need to meet these people on their field to drag them on ours: Pv. 26:5 : “Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.”

I hope it helped you rebuke that deception of Satan. God bless you all :) !

Michelle Chee science and faith always contradict, but there are many things science can't explain that our faith can :-)

Father's Heart Definitely folly! Science has recently disproved the Big bang theory as well. Check out Chuck Missler's website for details.
